J'ai posé la question à Yamaparts et ils semblent secs sur le sujet, surtout quand c'est un spécialiste AS3 qui répond:

Hello Gilles,
Glad to hear that you have good memories of your AS1, shame it's no longer with you.
Now, I can only speak for the AS3 as I don't know that much about the later models. There was no additional switches on the light bowl of the AS3, only the holes for the cables in the bottom and the highbeam indicator eye on the top. Other than that I can't think of any switch that was attached to the light bowl of the AS3. The AS1 had the ignition switch in the light bowl like you can see in this picture.

Hope this helps!

Comments: When in Strasbourg, East of France, my parents had offered me an YAS1 in 1969. It was , as you may expect, a marvelous gift, that I drove in Elsass, Vosges Moutains, and to the Elephants meetings on the 1rst of January. What memories I have kept from that journey, sleeping in a tent while there. No problem until riding back home: it suddenly didn't want to go above 20 or 40 km/h. Once home I open the cylinder head, and discovered that one piston was pierced. I set a new one and on the next summer, it took me to my grandfather's house in Britanny, near StBrieuc (10000km of no ending delight). Then it took me back to Paris suburbs where my parents had moved, and my parents offered me a Renault R5 (spoiled brat child). With my two left hands,I was then unable to maintain my YAS1 and as it didn't start anymore, I let it out outside one morning for the rubbish lorry.
Later, getting older, back in Northern Suburbs of Paris, I got myself a RDX1977 and had the luck to enrol in a club of fana-addicts of AS3-RDX CLUB IDF where these machines are their drugs.
Today they have got a question you might be able to answer: do my memories are right when they propose that there was a switch at the lower front bottom of the light bowl?
Thank you very much,
Gilles-the-nutcase
